Ofte bruges ligningen v.h.a varmekapacitet (ikke specifik), til en samling genstande der skal opvarmes (nedkøles), her benyttes stort C, for en varmekapacitet

Nu indsættes de enheder som er med i forsøget, ved vand opvarmning skal der f.eks. også tages hensyn til gryden som det opvarmes i, og om det er aluminium eller andet.
